Tamron 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD lens was released roughly six months after Sigma launched its slower and heavier   100-400mm f/5-6.3  OS Contemporary lens covering the same zoom range. Both lenses are designed for cameras with ‘full-frame’ sensors and both are available in Canon EF and Nikon F mounts. The barrel of the Tamron lens is made primarily of magnesium, enabling it to be claimed as the lightest in its class.
